Salsa Festival in Shanghai - Dec. 21 through 26th - 2005

Is it me or does this look like the quickest last minute, “we have to get a Salsa Festival before the end of the year” organization with nothing more than a few days of promotion??

Yes, over the past couple of weeks I’ve heard some rumors that Shanghai would have a Festival, but nobody in the know-how knew the details or anything along those lines.

I hope that their Festival is successful but in order to have a QUALITY festival, one needs more than just a couple of weeks of notice. Looking at the schedule, I could not help but laugh when I read that there will be a MAGIC SHOW?? and a ‘surprise’ contest of merengue and bachata. I think the real SURPRISE is that this Festival is really going to happen. Actually, after looking at the schedule for a 2nd time, it seems that this should not be called a Festival but rather an end-of-the-year Salsa Christmas Celebration.

Having said that, I wish the organizers the best and hope that they have a good turnout and make this a yearly event with better planning and advanced notice.
