More Salsa in Beijing

January 31, 2005

It seems that there is a new place to Salsa in Beijing. This place is called SALSA CARIBE. (The name reminds me of the famous SALSA CARIBE in Roppongi, Japan)

I went there on a Monday night but unfortunately it was slow and very few dancers. I hear that other days of the week is a good spot to go. They seem to have a live band.

Their website is at: http://www.caribechina.com

More Salsa in Taipei

January 29, 2005

So far the best place to dance salsa in Taipei seems to be BROWN SUGAR. This is usually a JAZZ place but on Sundays they play salsa. This club seems a bit upscale and the dancers are good.

My only commnet is that the ‘Salsa’ played by the band was too jazzy…and not so good for dancing. The best dancing was done when the DJ played SALSA.

Overall this club gets my recomendation.

Salsa dancing in Taipei

January 28, 2005

We arrived to Taipei today and we were adviced to go to a club called CLUB 75. When we got there, there was a band playing salsa but there were not many people dancing. We stayed for a bit but the salsa crowd naver showed up. Later we found out that CLUB 75 had a private party and all the Salsa dancers were turned down for the night.

It seems that all of them headed out to Club Barrio. (We didn’t make it to EL Barrio)

La Mega finally has competition - El Zol 99.1 FM

January 13, 2005

January 12, 2005 is the date when REAL competition finally arrived to the Latino FM market in the Washington, D.C. area.

El Zol 99.1 FM is finally live.

This new radio station inmediately became the strongest FM signal in the Washington, D.C. area. La Mega is no longer number 1 in signal strenght.

I’ve talked to a few people in and out of the industry and they everybody has a very positive response to this move. La Mega is no longer a monopoly in the D.C. area and we hope that better and bigger things will come to Washington, D.C.

Rumor has that La Mega is now for sale….I think this is a bit too late.

All we want to say at this point is BIENVENIDO Zol 99.1. This market has been waiting for another FM radio station for too long.

Salsa Blog

January 12, 2005

So I’m continuing with this experiment of a Blog and to say the least it does become a bit addictive.

Since I started to Blog, there have been new developments that are just fascinating. Some of them have been around for a while and others are just making thier mark.

- Blogging via email: This is useful if you’re on the road and want to publish an entry. You can use your cell of PDA and send your post withouth the need to sit in front of a computer.

- Blogging via voice: There are some applications/services out there that allow you to post a voice blog using your cell phone. This is pretty cool I think and is good for the road-warrior.

- PodCasting: Similar to cell-phone voice blogging, this is a voice entry into your blog. The main difference is that people are really going out of their way and making this a very ‘pro’ sounding post. Some may even sound more like a radio broadcast.

- Video Blogging: Yes, now you can also post blog entries with video. There is a program out there that will make this very easy and at the same time make it look very professional.

So this brings me to what’s next on Salsa Blogging. I have decided to take this to the next level and over the next few months I’ll be working on my little project called: SalsaBlog. Details will come later and I hope that this little project will work out.

Phase 1 of this project will start in the next two weeks and Phase 2 and 3 will probably take a bit longer because of the complexity of what the final project will be like.

So don’t be surprised if all of a sudden SalsaNews stops and changes it’s look and you’re redirected to: http://www.SalsaBlog.com
